What to Expect

What to Expect

Denton Christian Church exists for one purpose: To make disciples of Jesus!
We do that by providing opportunities for people to
LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, and SERVE EVERYWHERE.
We believe that those three characteristics mark followers of Jesus.

Whether you have ever attended church before or not, we realize your first visit to a new church can be a bit intimidating.  The most important thing to know is that we love you and we are your family.  Hopefully the answers below to the most commonly asked questions will aid you in your journey seeking a new church family.  If you want to know more or have any additional questions, please get in touch with one of our leaders.

What should I wear?
Everyone wears what makes them comfortable.  Our church family is a diverse one with all generations represented.  As such there is a wide range of “styles” with everything from jeans and a t-shirt to suit or dress.  We come together to worship God, not to have a fashion show!

Music/Singing
We have an in-house worship band that leads the church in what is typically called “contemporary” Christian music.   Feel free to sing along with us via the lyrics displayed on large screens in the auditorium.

Children
We love the blessings from the Lord that our children are.  You are more than welcome to keep your children with you through the duration of Sunday’s worship and sermon, however beginning shortly after Bible reading, announcements, and prayers the Children’s Ministry is opened.   Please note safety is of paramount importance to us and all of our volunteers/teachers are thoroughly screened and trained.  Please let the volunteer/teacher know if your child has any special needs or allergies.

  • Nursery is for infants to 2 years old.  You will be given a number whereby you can be “paged” via the large screens in the auditorium should the need arise (ie. diaper changes)
  • CrossTown is for 3 to 5 year old children.  There will be a lesson and a craft.
  • KidzWorship is for 1st to 5th graders.  There will be a lesson and sometimes a craft.

Communion
We remember the birth, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ every Sunday.  We do this by having a devotion and passing an “open communion”.  This means we will pass trays of bread and juice to everyone so that those who desire may partake.  We will offer these symbols of the body and blood of Christ to all, however you are under no obligation to partake.

Offering
Shortly after Communion, an offering will be taken up for the furthering the kingdom of God.  It could be used for maintaining the church, local community evangelism or even worldwide missionary work.  As a convenience there is a digital credit card reader for those who desire.  As a visitor you are not expected to give.

How long is the service?
Our Sunday worship begins at 10:30am, but if you show up a little bit earlier you can enjoy the free coffee, donuts/pastries, and conversation!  We typically finish just prior to noon and if it is the first Sunday of a month you are welcome to stay and enjoy lunch with us as well!
